First of all, I need to say a hearty congratulations to my buddy Jimmy Carter on winning the Nobel Peace Prize!!!! Yay for Jimmy!

I just love Jimmy Carter.

Secondly, speaking of politics, I am rather irritated with Rebulican candidate for Governor of California Bill Simon. For those of you not in California, Mr. Simon is a private businessman, running for Gov. He's also a crooked private businessman. Several law suits have been filed against him, alledging fraud and other nasty things. Even the U.S. Govt. is suing him right now, for fraud against the Postal Service.

Well, I saw a t.v. commerical for his campaign last night. He says (of course I'm paraphrasing, but not by much): "Maybe because I have a lot of money, I haven't been corrupted by it like Gray Davis." Of course, he offers no support of this alledged "corruption". How dare he just throw words around like that without anything to back them up?

The sad thing is that many people will just hear that and go, "Right on! I don't want to vote for people corrupted by money!"

In all fairness, Gray Davis ran ads letting everyone know about the numerous lawsuits filed against Bill Simon. I understand - most politicians run nasty ads these days. But hey - those law suits were actually filed! Bill Simon actually is being investigated by various governmental bodies. At no time in his commercial does Bill Simon even mention what his "corruption" comment may be about, let alone offer up any kind of proof. That's why I'm pissed about it.

Of course, we all know that the jackass has no proof because Gray Davis is a saint.

Obviously, I like Gray Davis. He could never be president, because he really just shoots from the hip. He gets down and dirty and gets the job done and doesn't care if he makes friends along the way or not. He doesn't apologize for his actions or backtrack once he figures out his decision wasn't a popular one. Also, he has kept his cool pretty well in the midst of the infamous and ongoing energy crisis we're having. None of this was his fault and yet he just dug in and did what he could to solve the problem. And if people wanted to blame him for it all, so be it, so long as the problem is fixed.

At least, this is my impression of him.

Plus, he's an environmentalist which is toward the top of my list of priorities for any politician.

However, those who run his campaign like to waste a lot of money. I get a flier in the mail from his campaign every day. I ain't jokin', neither. I feel like calling them up and saying, "Hey, I'm already gonna vote for the man. Save your pennies, save a tree why dontcha?"

OK, third issue: I have my history mid-term tonight and I am nervous. I did the essay portion yesterday (we had to write a long essay and have it ready at the beginning of class) and think I did well, although it's a tad longer than my teacher requested. Actually, it's twice as long as she requested.

What, I'm long-winded or something? *guffah*

I am just going mad-hog-wild with the italics today. I must be feeling...effervescent.

I've been choughing for two weeks straight, now. I'm not talking about little "ahem" sorta-coughs. I'm talkin' big ol', phlegmy-wet, deep from the bowels COUGHS, baby. My-ribs-are-sore-coughs. I feel fine, aside from the damn coughing. If I'm gonna get a cold, I wish I'd just get it already, so that I can get over it. I woke up having a coughing fit at 1:00am and was up for half an hour before I found one last dose of Dayquil in the cabinet. Hey, Dayquil was better than nothing, which was my alternative.

Lou sent me a copy of the new Peter Case CD yesterday. Woo-Hoo! And just in time for my road trip.

I'll leave to drive to Santa Cruz at like 6 in the am (yawn) so I can get there at about noon...of course, the way I drive, I'll probably get there at like 10am.

So have a nice weekend, folks!

P.S. Thanks ladyadra!
