So I haven't talked about my favorite show, Trading Spaces, in quite a while. The show made me very sad over the weekend. First of all, Doug is a fucking whiny-baby-spoiled-brat. He was doing a couple's bedroom over the weekend (well, you know - the show played over the weekend. I really have no idea when he actually did the room). The only stipulation this couple had was that nobody touch their hardwood floors because they loved them. They didn't care if a rug was thrown over the floor, but they didn't want their hardwood messed with. So of course Doug wants to mess with the hardwood (*ahem*)**. The neighbors working with Doug on the room had major objection and absolutely would not allow him to mess with the hardwood. His response? He just left them to do their own thing, totally not helping them for the entire day. Oh, plus he had to throw in snarky little barbs about how these people had no sense of style, nor did they have good taste. On the same show, Hilda painted someone's walls sky blue and had large white squiggles all over them. It was actually ok-looking, but the squiggles were a bit much. Perhaps if they'd had about half the squiggles, it would have been groovy...you know, for a kid's room, which this was NOT. On a separate show, Miss Hilda decided to paint a portrait of herself on some poor couple's wall. It looked almost exactly like that old drawing of Marlo Thomas on That Girl (man, how old am I anyway?). Now, I have mixed feelings about Hilda in general. I sometimes love her designs, sometimes hate 'em. Plus, I think she comes off as snobby and I wouldn't want to work with her for that very reason. Doug I absolutley can not stand. I can't think of one of his designs I even remotely liked and he's a pissy little woman. I would absolutley refuse to be on the show if he was even remotely involved. Hmm...perhaps I shouldn't take this show quite so seriously... **And wouldn't we all like to mess with the hard wood? *wink-wink, nudge-nudge* |
