"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

My sons are 25 and 30. They are blond-haired and blue-eyed. One amendment today said we could not sell guns to anybody under drug treatment. So does that mean if you go into a black community, you cannot sell a gun to any black person?"

Rep. Barbara Cubin (R-WY), 4/10/03

Eeee.yeahnice little quote there.

But today is supposed to be Happy Entry Day in light of all of the wonderful recent events.

1. 7 POWs released in Iraq yesterday morning. What a joyous development. After Jessica Lynch was "rescued" several days back, I had been so worried about our remaining POWs. All I could think of was that young African American gal who just wanted to earn money so she could go to chef school and now here she was in some military prison under God knows what kind of conditions. I assumed with the fall of Baghdad and the basic crumble of Iraqs regime in general their military really would have no reason to keep any of those people alive. How wonderful that not only were they kept alive but they really seem to have been treated at least half-way decently. Of course we dont know that yet, but by all appearances they are in good health at least. Thank God.

2. Two Naval ships are on their way home The Kitty Hawk and The Constitution. Two sons of a lady I work with are on the -Hawk, so I am especially happy for her family. As a side note, my brother Larry was on the Connie when she sat in the Indian Ocean for months during the Carter Administration and Arnett was on her during the war in Viet Nam. Just thought Id share.

3. I did get laid this weekend, after all. John gave it up yesterday, once it was determined he would catch no cooties. It may only have been once, but I made it worth my while.

4. My Credit Union merged with another one. While ordinarily this would not be cause for celebration, one of the nice things about my new and improved CU is that my direct deposits are posted a day early. Therefore, instead of getting paid tomorrow, I got paid today. Seeing as I am going to Wal Mart tonight and therefore will most likely need some money, this is a very good thing.

OK, I also just discovered that I have to pay over $300 in state taxes, but aside from that and hearing what that moron in Wyoming had to say (as quoted above), this is a good day.
