I have to admit to being a little offended by gutterpoet's latest note in my guestbook. Therefore, please allow me to print my rebuttal, which was this: Dude, I never said Iraq was better off under Saddam. Where did you ever get that idea? That has never been my point at all. My point is that Liberating Iraq was not our intention in going there. It was just a pleasant byproduct of an otherwise completely immoral and illegal act of aggression. And hopefully thats the last time I have to make that statement. Nothing against gutterpoet, of course. He is very thoughtful, intelligent and seems to be an all-around cool dude. He thinks and he makes me think about stuff, which is always good. However, I get a little defensive when people say stuff to me like he said in his guestbook entry. I didnt think Id have to explain myself on this issue anymore. When was the last time anybody, let alone me, said Iraq was better off under Saddams rule? I dont think Ive ever heard anybody say that, ever. I am not, however, a student of The Ends Justify the Means school of thought. ~~~ Word of the Day for Thursday October 23, 2003: leitmotif LYT-moh-teef, noun: 1.
