While I am still busy (and frankly, afraid of losing what little sanity I still had left before this week), I just have to note... I found this article at the Washington Post. It mentions comments made by Dennis Kucinich during the last debate in Iowa and also that someone he once fired is now calling him a nut. Granted, the opinion is questionable anyway, considering the person in question has ample reason to dislike the man who fired him from his Chief of Police position, live on local television. What really struck me, though, is a section one finds when one gets to the bottom of the article. There is a section entitled: Advertiser Links. Who advertises at the Washington Post, according to the link on this particular article? Who is giving money to the Washington Post in order to advertise right alongside articles such as this? Howard Dean For President and Clark for President Links to both of their web pages are provided for your convenience. Anybody else see a small conflict of interest here? Kucinich may not in fact be "unelectable", but our supposed free press is sure as hell doing whatever they can to make sure he is, whether by ignoring him or making him appear to be some kind of a fruitcake (or quoting others calling him as much). If you want to think that of him, fine, but I do ask that you actually LISTEN TO HIM SPEAK for more than the three minutes generally allotted to him in most debates before you come to that conclusion. And this doesnt particularly pertain to this article, but let me just remind everyone that the largest contributor to Howard Deans campaign is AOL/Time Warner. AOL/Time Warner. Media giants, they. And they might have reason to hope that their investment pays off. Do you honestly think that their coverage of the presidential race will be completely unbiased? But then, Ive crossed that bridge here on these pages, before. As far as Dennis firing that guy in front of the entire city, live on televisionwhatever. It was really bad. Dennis apologized for it. In fact, he mentioned it during the debate when asked about the one biggest mistake hes ever made. At least he has the guts, honesty and decency to admit his mistakes...you know, unlike Dick Gephardt who finds that terribly, terribly difficult and if pushed in to a corner and forced to admit a past mistake (as during the debate the other day) almost, kinda admits to one but then vehemently defends himself, all in the same breath. Whatever, dude. Youre human. You make mistakes, just like the rest of us. Id rather vote for someone who can admit his mistakes and learn from them. |
