In reference to my anger toward that blowhard Michael Moore due to his erroneous accusations toward Dennis Kucinich (which he has still not retracted, by the way), please see this article. Well, he may not care much, but because Michael Moore can not see why he should have to retract his misstatements, he has lost any support and certainly what waning respect I may once have had for him. I would feel that way whether he were telling lies about Dennis Kucinich or any other candidate. And frankly, if he needs to resort to telling lies about others to gain support for Wes Clarks candidacy, that speaks volumes. I may have been polite in my letter to Mr. Moore, but that politeness is out the window now that he has shown no desire to retract his lie. I have been talking with many about the questionable merits of one Wesley Clark over the past few days. For those of you (and you know who you are) who are now considering supporting Wes Clark because of Michael Moores endorsement, I urge you to read this article, a well and strongly written opinion piece which also offers many links which point conclusively to Wes Clarks particular brand of waffles. Wesley Clark has some strong positions, many of which I agree with (even if I dont completely trust that he is being honest when spouting them...plus,I am severly suspect of ANYONE who will not repeal that fucking Patriot Act). Should he get the Democratic nomination, he will have my support because I still say anyone would be better than Dubya. I do, however, have a big problem with people (many of them my friends and/or readers of this journal) supporting him only because they have faith in Michael Moore's opinions. Mr. Moore has some serious issues, not the least of which is keeping his facts straight. He likes to manipulate the truth in support of whatever cause he is taking up at the moment and right now, his cause his Wes Clark. I just urge you to do your research, rather than rely on his (or anybodys) word. Herein lies the problem with celebrity endorsements. And heres something to ponder. Moores statements such as the one he leveled at Dennis Kucinich (that he supported the war in Iraq, which is perhaps the most ludicrous notion I have ever heard) and the one wherein he called George Dubya a deserter may be considered libelous. They are at the very least an extreme exaggeration of the facts. So my question is this: Michael Moore is standing on a podium alongside Wes Clark, spouting what amount to bullshit accusations he cant back up with actual facts. Shouldnt Wes Clark be held accountable? I know they are two different people, but when you have Moore speaking at your rallies and introducing you, should we not assume you are on the same page? And when Peter Jennings calls Wes Clark on this during a debate and Wes Clark says the deserter accusation has no bearing on his campaign isnt that a complete cop-out? It would appear that Wes Clark wants others to do his dirty-work for him and rack some mud on his behalf, but can distance himself so far as he is not the actual person saying the words. Nice. Arent we on the Left supposed to be above all of that? We sure love to say we are, so shouldnt we start acting like it? When are we going to get sick of all the dishonesty, the smoke and mirrors and vote for a person of actual integrity? There is actually one running right now. |
