I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving; or at least had a wonderful four-day weekend. My Turkey-Day was in fact pretty wonderful. John got in to town at about 3:00am, so neither of us got a heck of a lot of sleep Wednesday night, though. Traffic for him was an absolute bear, of course. I got to my parent's house at noon on Thursday (John spent the day with his family). My only cooking responsibility was mashed potatoes, so all I had to do initially was peel about 15 lbs. of potatoes (I have a large family) and then I started with the fun stuff. We split the cooking duties up rather nicely, so really nobody took on more than their share. That's always nice - no one person is left working their butt off and not having any fun. Anyway, so I totally pigged out, of course. Actually, the pigging out doesn't appear to have slowed down much in the days since Thanksgiving... After dinner, Lou busted out his guitar and we ended up sitting around singing goofy sings rather goofily. Then I tried, seemingly in vain, to convince my parents that I was not in fact drunk, but just having a good time. I think I fell short in my attempts to convince them of my sobriety because: John was down for the rest of the weekend. That meant we actually spent Thursday night as well as all day Friday and Saturday together; then he left on Sunday at about 1:00pm. We haven't had that much time alone together for a long time, so it was great. It really was fabulous. We had the nicest of weekends together. We didn't do much of anything at all, really - just a lot of movie-watching and cuddling. Of course, those are two of my favorite ways to spend time, so I have no complaints. We had a lot of grand plans for things we might do or were thinking of doing, but as it turned out we barely poked our heads out of the house in order to get food. :) The weather in my neck of the woods has cooled down nicely and we even got a few drops of rain over the weekend. It's lovely outside, although we still need a lot more rain. At least it's not 80 degrees anymore, though! |
